Filtration for Medical & Biotech Applications

Protein filtration, cell separation and cell culture each call for different membrane materials and pore sizes. Our PES, Nylon, PVDF and PP hollow-fiber membranes provide options for development teams to discuss, from material specifications and pore-size analysis to packaging dimensions, as they plan further testing and development.

Positioning

mbranfiltra makes microfiltration hollow-fiber membranes using the NTV-IPS phase-inversion process, which casts an asymmetric pore structure, in PES, Nylon, PVDF and PP, and continues research on adjusting membrane pore size. Specific medical and biotech uses require assessment against material specifications, test data and applicable requirements.

Applications

Protein filtration

Cell concentration, separation and culture

Hemodialysis

Vaccine filtration

Exosomes

These are application areas, not case studies or validated results. Suitability for each use depends on your process, regulations and validation; this is not a medical-device or sterility claim.

BenQ Qflow hollow fiber filter with mbranfiltra mPES membrane

Designed for tangential flow filtration (TFF): purification, concentration and diafiltration. BenQ Dialysis's brochure also shows research-use concentration and separation of extracellular vesicles (EVs / exosomes).

  • Customized series S100 / S180 / S350: pore size 60 or 100 nm, filtering surface 100 / 180 / 350 cm² (system brochure p2)
  • Flow rate @10000/s: 200 / 358 / 716 ml/min; maximum operating pressure 30 psi (60 nm) / 26 psi (100 nm)
  • Standard series: lab, pilot and process sizes, MWCO / pore size 10 kDa – 0.65 μm (system brochure p3–p4)

Qflow-Neo is BenQ Dialysis's automated TFF separation system (equipment, system brochure p5); it is listed separately from the filters.

Specifications, standards and uses are as printed in BenQ Dialysis's brochures, which state that specifications may change without notice.

Third-party Test Results

TestResult
SGS test report Per SGS report PX/2020/A011301 (sample MF02-M1, 2020-10-23): E. coli removal rate above 99.9%. Applies to this sample only, not the whole product line.
ISO 10993-5 Cytotoxicity test, per report M62-200500018001 (ISO 10993-5, 2020-05): grade 2/mild, 22.2% viability reduction — not cytotoxic under the test conditions. Applies to this sample only.
BENQ test report Per BenQ Dialysis Technology report BDT-NT-231207 (sample MF002, 2023-12-20): E. coli clearance rate above 99.9%. Applies to this sample only, not the whole product line.
Taiwan–US inspection Per Taiwan–US Testing Technology (SUPERLAB) report M61-200200105 (mfd. 2019/12, 2020-02-13; pages 1–2 of the same 5-page report): no residual plasticizers or heavy metals detected. Applies to this sample only, not the whole product line.

Report number, tested sample, date and method are shown with each report scan below. Each result applies only to the specific sample and date tested, not a blanket guarantee across the whole product line; the two Taiwan–US results below are two pages of the same 5-page report, not two separate tests.

Each result applies to its own tested sample and conditions; they are not one combined specification.

Third-party test report scan

SGS Test Report No. PX/2020/A011301 — sample MF02-M1, tested 2020-10-23. Water filtered at 1.6 L/min for 5 min; E. coli reduced from 5.7×10³ to <1 CFU/100mL (removal rate >99.9%).
Third-party test report scan

Cytotoxicity Test Report No. M62-200500018001 (per ISO 10993-5:2009) — sample: hollow-fiber membrane cartridge material (no specific model stated), tested 2020-05. MTT assay + morphology on L929 mouse fibroblasts, 24 h co-culture with a 10% serum extract. Result: cytotoxicity grade 2 (mild); 100% extract reduced viability 22.2% vs. control. Conclusion: not cytotoxic under the test conditions.
